SUMMARY:LNENA 2024 Annual Meeting and Elections on May 11\, at 3 p.m. at Sociable Cider Werks
DESCRIPTION:The Lower Northeast Neighborhoods Association is hosting its first official Annual Meeting on Saturday\, May 11\, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Sociable Cider Werks.  The meeting will take place following the Spring Bags Tournament.  We are seeking five people from Beltrami and five people from Northeast Park to run for a seat on the new LNENA Board.  The board terms are two years. \nBoard members typically invest about 2-4 hours a month in LNENA meetings and activities. Monthly board meetings last approximately 2 hours. We also like board members to sit on at least one committee. Committees typically meet once per month for about 1.5 hours. We have a handful of other events and activities throughout the year that we like the board to be engaged in. \nIf you have an interest in running for a seat on the LNENA Board\, please submit our Board Application.  If you know someone who would make a great candidate for a board seat\, please encourage them to apply! \nIf you have any questions\, please email outreach@lnena.org.

SUMMARY:November 5th is Election Day! Make a plan to vote!
DESCRIPTION:Election Day is just around the corner\, and every vote counts! Now is the time to make your plan to vote and ensure that your voice is heard. Here are a few tips to help you get ready for Election Day: \n1. Check Your Registration Status:\nMake sure you’re registered to vote at your current address. You can verify your registration status online at voter registration website. If you need to update your information\, now’s the time to do it! \n2. Know Your Polling Place:\nPolls will be open on November 5 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Find your assigned polling place here: link to polling place locator. Make sure you know where to go before Election Day arrives. \n3. Make a Voting Plan:\nThink about when you’ll vote—will it be before or after work\, or perhaps during your lunch break? Planning your day in advance can help ensure that nothing gets in the way of casting your ballot. \n4. Bring What You Need:\nIf your voter registration is current and active\, you do not need to bring identification. This means you were successfully registered at least 21 days before Election Day and you have not moved or changed names since then.  If you need to register or update your registration\, or you have not voted in four years or more\, you will need to show proof of residence before you vote. \n5. Spread the Word!\nEncourage your friends\, family\, and neighbors to vote too. Remind them to make their voting plans\, and even consider going to the polls together.  Your vote is your voice\, and together\, we can make a difference in our community. \nLet’s make sure everyone is prepared to cast their ballot on Election Day. See you at the polls! \nMore information is available at: \nhttps://vote.minneapolismn.gov/ \nMinneapolis League of Women Voters \nMinnesota Secretary of State

SUMMARY:Fashion Forum - Saturday\, November 23\, 9:30 - 11:00 A.M. at Lynnhurst Community Center
DESCRIPTION:Fall Forum – Saturday\, November 23\, 2024\, 9:30 – 11:00 A.M. at Lynnhurst Community Center (1345 W Minnehaha Parkway\, Minneapolis)\n\n\n\nMany of us love to shop – for ourselves and the people in our lives. What many of us don’t know is how the current fashion industry produces the clothes we find at the mall or in Amazon searches. Presenters from St. Catherine’s University and ARC Value Village will pull back the curtain on the Fashion Industry’s production methods to spotlight it’s negative environmental and human impacts. They will also inspire us to consider alternative ways to think about fashion\, clothing and shopping. Following the main presentation\, you’ll be have a chance to talk with representatives from neighborhood resources like Buy Nothing and Lake Makerie.\n\n\n\nPlease join us for a morning of conversation and education to learn more about this problem and how you can lessen your impact without giving up on your personal fashion or gift giving tastes — just in time for Black Friday and holiday shopping.

SUMMARY:Logan Park Industrial Project Open House on February 19\, at Northeast Recreation Center
DESCRIPTION:The Logan Park Industrial Project Team is hosting an Open House on Feb 19th from 4:30PM-6:30PM at the Northeast Recreation Center. \nThe design process for Quincy Street has been extended to provide time for additional engagement and to explore design options. The City is exploring the use of non-standard features to meet the unique needs\, uses\, and context of the roadway. A separate meeting for Quincy Street designs will be scheduled in the future. \nWhat does this mean for the project? \nThe six other streets in the project area will be moving towards concept layout approval by the City Council this spring as originally planned. There will be future engagement opportunities with different ideas for Quincy at a future date\, so we encourage those with an interest in Quincy to join our project email list to learn about these meetings. While some of the other six streets may start construction in 2026\, Quincy would not start before 2027.
