The Lower Northeast Neighborhoods Association is pleased to share an important funding opportunity for local homeowners.
From March 2 through March 20, the City will accept applications for grants to help homeowners repair failing private sewer lateral pipes and connections to the public sewer system.
You can look at information now to get ready and then apply when applications open.
What’s Available?
Eligible homeowners may receive grants between $5,000 and $10,000 to offset the cost of necessary sewer repairs. Depending on the total project cost and program requirements, applicants may need to provide a financial match.
Funding will be awarded through a lottery-based system, ensuring fairness and equal opportunity among applicants.
How Many Grants Will Be Awarded?
This year’s funding is expected to support approximately 32–36 property owners.
Why This Matters
Failing sewer laterals can cause:
-
Basement backups
-
Slow drainage
-
Unpleasant odors
-
Potential property damage
-
Public health and environmental concerns
These repairs are often unexpected and expensive. This grant program offers critical financial support to help homeowners address issues before they become larger (and costlier) problems.
What You Should Do Now
Even though applications open March 2, homeowners are encouraged to:
-
Review program eligibility requirements
-
Gather any necessary documentation
-
Obtain cost estimates if possible
-
Prepare financially for any required match
Being ready to apply as soon as the window opens will help ensure your application is successfully submitted.
The Lower Northeast Neighborhoods Association encourages eligible homeowners to take advantage of this opportunity. Addressing sewer issues early protects your home, your neighbors, and our community’s infrastructure.
